The Paradise

Waiting to see Downtown Abbey, I came across this BBC series called The Paradise. It'is a novel by Emile Zola and tells the story of Denise Lovett, a girl who comes to England to get a job at her uncle Edmund, a dressmaker with a tailor shop. Unfortunately, the overwhelming competition of the department store The Paradise does not allow Edmund to give her a work, so Denise decides to get a job at The Paradise, where she proves to be a woman full of initiative, earning the respect and the special consideration of the owner, the fascinating John Moray.
I like it incredibly, for the plot - which is much more complex then I have said -, for the actors, for the reconstruction of environments, time and customs.
Highly recommended to the passionates of period dramas.
